Q-DROPS
Q-DROPS (Student remains enrolled in one or more courses at the university)
Students may drop a course via DuckTrax through the last day of ADD/DROP/LATE REGISTRATION. Please view the Academic Calendar for these official dates for the appropriate semester). Once Add/Drop/Late Registration has ended, students must submit a Q-DROP form in order to drop a course.
FALL 2009 ADD/DROP/LATE REGISTRATION: AUGUST 24-26
The Q-DROP request form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar no later than the LAST DAY TO DROP A COURSE by 4:00 pm in order for the drop to be processed. The effective drop date is the date the drop is reported to and recorded in the Registrar's Office.

* These dates are ONLY effective when dropping an individual course while remaining registered for additional hours. If any student wishes to drop their registration to zero hours it will be considered a withdraw from the university. For information about withdrawing from the university please contact the Registrar's Office at 254-968-9419 or registrar@tarleton.edu or visit the Withdraw Information website.
- If a course is dropped on or before the census date for the appropriate session, the drop will not be recorded on the student's academic transcript. The student will be refunded for the tuition and fees associated with that course.
- If the Q-DROP form is submitted after the census date, a "Q" will be recorded on the student's academic transcript for the course being dropped for that appropriate session. The student will not receive a refund for the dropped course.
- Stephenville, Waco, Weatherford, Fort Worth and Online students may return their completed and signed drop form:
- In Person- at the front counter of the Registrar's Office located in the Administration building or
- By fax at 254-968-9389

For refund purposes, class days are determined by the academic calendar, not by the number of class meetings. For example, if a semester begins on Monday, the Thursday of that week is considered the 4th class day for all classes. The fees paid by Tuition Assistance or other third party receivable will be refunded to the military or other organization if a refund is due.

Please note, students who receive a "Q" for a dropped course may have this count against them regarding the 6 Drop Limit.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Authorized Signatures
- The Q-DROP request form must be signed by an Authorized Advisor according to the courses type and campus.
Special Permission Courses
- Undergraduate students requesting to drop a course that require Special Permission must contact the appropriate person before submitting the Q-DROP request form.
Chemistry courses with labs
- Students who wish to drop a Chemistry lecture course that has a lab MUST obtain a checkout slip from the Chemistry stockroom located in Science building room 441 before their request will be processed. Students may contact Stephen Mercer at 254-968-9151 in regards to the Chemistry checkout slips.
Veteran Affairs Students
- VA students should contact the Veteran Affairs Coordinator at 254-968-1830 or ejohnson@tarleton.edu or the Veteran Affairs office at 254-968-9126 prior to submitting the drop request.
Athletes
- Dropping a course may affect athletic eligibility, and therefore athletes must gain approval from the Athletic Compliance officer in order to drop a course. Athletes must contact Ms. Whitney Carter in the Athletics Office at 254-968-0560 or wcarter@tarleton.edu before initiating the drop process. If approved, the Athletic "Permission to Drop Request/Approval" form and the Q-DROP form must be submitted together to the Registrar's Office for processing.
Undergraduate Funding Limit, 3-Peat Rule, and Limits on Dropped Courses and Withdrawal
- Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the areas of Timely Graduation before dropping a course. Legislation associated with these areas were passed by the State of Texas and may have a financial impact on students.
6 Drop Limit Rule
- Undergraduate students are permitted a total of 6 dropped courses their entire undergraduate career. Students should be familiar with the Limitations on Dropped Courses before submitting the Q-DROP form.
