Offering an Applied Learning Experience

The first time a course or experience is conducted as an applied learning experience (ALE), the REAL Council must verify it meets the criteria and student learning outcomes of the REAL program. The experience may be initiated with or without initial funding. See below for more details.

If an experience has already been approved and developed and will be continuing, the ALE Renewal Form is used to notify the REAL Council of the ongoing experience so those involved may receive appropriate credit. See below for more details.

For assistance with any of these applications, feel free to contact the QEP Coordinator or any other member of the REAL Council.

Grants to develop and pilot an ALE

  1. Calls for Proposals are issued once in the fall semester, for the current academic year, and once in the spring semester, for the following academic year.
  2. Complete an application for the appropriate applied learning area. Note that a separate ALE application is required for each experience and for each area covered by your experience. Applications must be completed by the experience supervisor
  3. Submit the application to the REAL Council via email (real@tarleton.edu) or campus mail (attn: Denise Martinez, Box T-0508) by the due date given in the Call for Proposals.

Non-grant Funded ALE

The REAL Council must verify the experience meets the QEP criteria, but the application can be completed and submitted at any time, preferably at least 6 weeks before the start of the experience. The application is the same as for the development grants described above.

See the instructions above.

Continuing ALE

Complete the ALE Renewal form, preferably at least 6 weeks before the start of the experience.
