New!

Melisa Hightower, a 2008 graduate of Tarleton's counseling program, her co-counselor, and Wedgwood Middle School where she is employed, have received the prestigious CREST award from the Texas School Counseling Association.  This year 36 schools were selected from across Texas to be recognized for excellence in school counseling.  CREST Awards are for Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas.  Schools receiving the CREST Award have demonstrated a commitment to improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career, and personal social domains.

Congratulations to Counselors Melisa Hightower, Kimberly Guess and Principal T.J. Jarchow and his team at Wedgwood MIddle School of the Fort Worth ISD.

CREST looks at the counseling program in 8 areas including School Climate and Safety, Student Results, Major Achievements, Measurements, Community Partnerships and Resources, Parent Collaboration, and Technical Details.  A CREST Award through accountability measures highlights these areas and communicates what the counseling program is doing to help students succeed.  These awards are determined by reviewers throughout the state of Texas and are judged to pre-set standards of excellence.
