Program Goal:
The New Century Educational Leadership Program (NCELP) is an accelerated Master's Degree/Principal certification program. Its objective is to prepare highly qualified individuals to serve as public school administrators in Texas. NCELP is a collaborative administrator program between Tarleton State University and public school districts in Texas.
Program Description
This is an accelerated 18-month cohort program that is delivered in a unique cohort/web-based/ face-to-face format. This format provides the benefits and conveniences of web-based courses (high tech) combined with the meaningful learning support of cohorts who meet for face-to-face seminars (high touch).
NCELP relies upon current research and technology to offer a dramatically different training design and delivery system in developing prospective administrators. The NCELP proficiencies, which provide the basis for integrated curriculum, are developed from the National Policy Board for Educational Administration's (NPBEA) 21 proficiency domains and the State Board for Educator Certification principal standards. The leadership proficiencies are integrated throughout the program, serving as a comprehensive framework for the NCELP curriculum.
At the conclusion of 18 months, the student will have received 33 hours of university credit, a Master's Degree in Educational Administration and a Principal certificate that enables the intern to accept administrative positions in Texas public schools. To accomplish this, the NCELP provides up-to-date conceptual, technical, and human relations skills training necessary for principals to be effective instructional leaders in current and future educational environments.
