Why NCELP?
Program Design
You are a person, not a number.
NCELP is an established program based on research, continuous improvement, and meeting student needs. The NCELP cohorts are limited to 15-20 students so that each student can receive the individual attention they require. The program provides you with a director and program facilitator to answer your questions and provide personalized support.
Your individual needs matter.
Each NCELP student participates in an individual needs assessment to determine their areas of strengths and growths. This diagnostic tool is used to plan instruction and internship activities for the student.
You are respected as a professional in your field.
Tarleton's reputation as an exemplary certification program and success of it's students make NCELP graduates very attractive to school districts. NCELP students graduate prepared to enter the field. They have participated in a rigorous internship, and hold the required certificates for Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) and Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS.
Program Curriculum
We model quality instructional practices.
NCELP's course sequence is sequentially developed and allows students to extend upon previous knowledge. Students move through courses as a cohort; thus they share similar background knowledge. This allows the professor to tailor the instruction to the group and to individual students.
We integrate coursework with the profession.
NCELP is designed to meet the needs of busy professionals so they can pursue a Masters degree and work full-time. Classes are provided in a web-based/face-to-face seminar format so that students have flexibility but still benefit from the cohort design.
We know the value of continued professional development.
NCELP students participate in ongoing professional development throughout their coursework by attending some of the leading conferences in the state. This allows NCELP students to form relationships with some of the most well respected organizations.
