Tarleton State University Libraries Catalog - Database of all items owned by Tarleton Libraries. Look here for books, government reports, journal titles, videos, CDs, etc. Keyword searching is available.
Library of Texas - Search for Books and Articles from libraries located in Texas. The Library of Texas lets you pick the library collections you search, helping you locate items near you.
WorldCat - (FirstSearch Core) Books and other materials in libraries worldwide. WorldCat contains more than 32 million records describing items owned by libraries around the world. If Tarleton does not own these items, they can be requested through Inter-Library Loan.
Databases and Journal articles
CINAHL Full Text - provides indexing and abstracts for over 1,700 current nursing and allied health journals and other publications dating back to 1982, and contains over 880,000 records.
Dissertations and Theses - Full Text - includes bibliographic citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The full text of more than 1.7 million of these titles is available in paper and microform formats. Institutional subscribers to ProQuest Dissertations and Theses - Full Text receive on-line access to the complete file of dissertations in digital format starting with titles published from 1997 forward.
Education Full Text - is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals and yearbooks published in the United States and elsewhere. English-language books relating to education published in 1995 or later are also indexed. Abstracting coverage begins with January 1994. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source documents. Full-text coverage begins in January 1996.
Eric (Ebsco) or Eric (OCLC) - provides journal and research literature in the field of education. Examples of health and physical education journals are: Journal of Physical Education Recreation and Dance, and Journal of Health Education. Eric documents are now available free and full-text from E*Subscribe.
Health and Wellness Resource Center - Including the respected Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Health & Wellness Resource Center delivers up-to-date reference material as well as full-text magazines, journals, and pamphlets from a wide variety of authoritative medical sources. Additionally, consumers, students, and professionals are provided with descriptions of and links to several pertinent Web sites, selected for their usefulness and appropriateness.
Health Reference Center - (1980 - ) Use this database to find articles on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, HMOs, Prescription Drugs, etc.
Health Source (Consumer) and (Academic) - provides full text for nearly 280 health periodicals, over 1,100 health pamphlets, and 20 health reference books. Examples of health and physical education related journals are: Physical Educator, Physical Therapy, Physician and Sportsmedicine, and Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport.
Medline Ebsco or OCLC - provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree numbers, tree hierarchy and explosion capabilities to search abstracts from over 4,600 current biomedical journals. Included are citations from Index Medicus, International Nursing Index, Index to Dental Literature, PREMEDLINE, AIDSLINE, BIOETHICSLINE, and HealthSTAR.
Nature - Try the Nature database for full text scholarly articles in the field of health and physical education. Be sure to select some or all of the journal titles for a successful search.
Physical Education Index Database - Coverage includes sport law, kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, and sport sociology/psychology. Health education and physical therapy are also covered as they continue to become more prevalent in our society.
PsycINFO - citations concerning psychology and all related aspects. Examples of health and physical education journals are: Perceptual and Motor Skills, and Physical Education.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences - a comprehensive database providing nearly 550 full text publications, including more than 500 peer reviewed journals. Some of the titles in the health and physical education field include: Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly, Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, and Journal of Sport Behavior.
Psychology Journals - full text journals in the field of psychology produced by Proquest. Physical education and health include: Journal of Sport Behavior and the Journal of Athletic Training.
PubMed - from the National Library of Medicine the world's largest database for medical information. Examples of health and physical education journals are: American Journal of Physical Medicine and American Journal of Sports Medicine. Also, check Consumer Health for information about diseases, etc.
STAT!Ref - searchable reference books and textbooks in the medical field.
Wiley Interscience - Excellent for scientific research related for physical education, sports medicine and sports physiology. The articles from this database are from journals that are not traditionally considered to be physical education journals.
Academic Search Complete and Article First are general information databases that will contain articles (some full text) on health and physical education.
