Tarleton State University Libraries Catalog - Database of all items owned by Tarleton Libraries. Look here for books, government reports, journal titles, videos, CDs, etc. Keyword searching is available.
Library of Texas - Search for Books and Articles from libraries located in Texas. The Library of Texas lets you pick the library collections you search, helping you locate items near you.
WorldCat - (FirstSearch Core) Books and other materials in libraries worldwide. WorldCat contains more than 32 million records describing items owned by libraries around the world. If Tarleton does not own these items, they can be requested through Inter-Library Loan.
Databases and Journal articles
Academic Search Complete - Covers the humanities, social sciences, general science, and more. Provides full-text access to more than 5,300 journals, many of which are peer-reviewed. Indexing and abstracts are offered for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 10,900 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. Examples of biology journals indexed in this database include: Tropical Studies in Oceanography, Lancet, American Naturalist, Microbiology & Molecular Biology Reviews, and American Biology Teacher.
AGRICOLA - from the United States Department of Agriculture.- Search for all types of information about botany, zoology, and biology. Examples of Biology related journals are: Environment & Ecology, Plant Breeding Reviews, Biology and Fertility of Soils, Plant Biology, and Veterinary Clinical Immunology.
American Chemical Society Publications - Provides full-text searching and instant access to all titles, volumes, issues, and articles published by the American Chemical Society since 1995.
American Society for Microbiology - prominent publications in the field, delivering authoritative source in microbiology
Annual Reviews - Since 1932, Annual Reviews has offered comprehensive, timely collections of critical reviews written by leading scientists. Annual Reviews volumes are published each year for over 30 focused disciplines within the Biomedical, Life, Physical, and Social Sciences.
BioOne - Provides access to full-text articles from high-impact bioscience research journals, focused on the biological, ecological and environmental sciences.
Cab Abstracts - covers research and development in the applied life sciences, including agriculture, forestry, human nutrition, veterinary medicine and the environment. Other topics covered in the database include: biodiversity, pest control, environmental pollution, animal diseases, food production, managing natural resources, plant and animal breeding and more
CellPress - Provides access to several journals published by Cell Press, including Cell, Immunity, Neuron, Structure, Current Biology, Developmental Cell, and Cancer Cell. (We do not have access to Chemistry and Biology)
Environment Complete - Offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, renewable energy sources, natural resources, marine and freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. Provides full text access for more than 680 journals and 120 monographs. Examples of biology journals indexed in this database are Environment (back to 1975), Ecologist, and Conservation Biology.
GreenFILE - Includes scholarly, government, and general-interest titles covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Topics covered include global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for approximately 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records. Examples of biology journals indexed in this database are Ecology and Conservation Biology.
Institute of Physics - Full-text online access to all 34 of the journals published by the Institute of Physics. Some of these journals, such as Physical Biology and Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, cover biology-related topics.
JSTOR - Biology related journal include: American Journal of Botany, Journal of Mammalogy, Journal of Animal Ecology, and Quarterly Review of Biology. Journal coverage stops before the current year, but often goes back to the nineteenth or early twentieth century.
Nature - Provides full-text access to journals in the Nature Publishing Group. A good information resource for the basic biological and physical sciences.
PubMed - Provides access to millions of citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related databases, with links to participating online journals. Examples of biology related journals are: Genome Research, Hematology and Cell Therapy, Journal of Applied Microbiology, Journall of Structural Biology, and Pathobiology.
SciVerse - Full-text or abstracts coverage of more than 1,000 Elsevier Science journals covering a wide spectrum of disciplines, including Chemistry, Materials science, Engineering & technology, Environmental science, Economics, Business & management, Neuroscience, Pharmacology & toxicology, Physics, Mathematics & computer science, Earth sciences, Social sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology & immunology, Biological sciences, and Clinical medicine. Examples of Biology journals indexed in this database are: Annual Review of Fish Diseases, Biological Psychiatry, Cell Transplantation, Habitat International, and Journal of Marine Systems.
SpringerLINK - Provides access to scholarly journals published by Springer-Verlag, including many biomedical, life sciences, and ecology titles.
Web of Knowledge - Citation database with multidisciplinary coverage of over 10,000 journals in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities, as well as international proceedings coverage for over 110,000 conferences. Examples of biology journals indexed in this database are Marine Biology Research, Biological Conservation, and Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Wildlife & Ecology Studies Worldwide (1935 & earlier to the present) - A major database of more than 670,388 citations, many of which include abstracts. Major topic areas include studies of individual species, habitat types, hunting, economics, wildlife behavior, management techniques, diseases, ecotourism, zoology, taxonomy and much more. Approximately 18,000 records are added per year.
Wiley Interscience - Provides full-text access to over 300 leading scientific, technical, medical, and professional journals, plus major reference works and the full-text of select Wiley print books online.
