Agriculture Links

AgNIC - is a guide to quality agricultural information on the Internet.  They were selected by personnel at the National Agricultural Library, land-grant universities, and other institutions.

Agricultural Economics - from the Texas A&M University Department of Agricultural Economics, links to international agricultural information.

American Society of Animal Science - Basic information, membership services, meeting announcements, publications, and student resources are included in this comprehensive page produced by the principle organization of the animal science discipline.

APSnet - The main site of the American Phytopathological Society, with resources for both members and interested visitors. Includes news, meetings, a list of online resources, directories and career information, as well as a link to their journals and publications.

Breeds of Livestock - best site for information on breeds of all kinds of livestock including cattle, horses, goats, swine, and poultry.

Butterflies and Moths of North America - An effort to collect, store, and share species information and occurrence data.  Combines the previous web sites from the USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Center and the Big Sky Institute at Montana State University.

Cornell University Insect Collection - A virtual tour of a large collection of preserved insects at Cornell, arranged by types, with a searchable index.

CropLife America - is a trade association representing the manufacturers of pesticides and other agricultural chemicals.

Entomological Society of America (ESA) - Basic information about this important organization, including annual meetings, educational information, job opportunities, and a list of their publications and online journals.

Extension Digital Information Source (EDIS) -  contains over 4,000 publications related to agriculture, natural resources, the environment, and human and rural development and is updated twice a week; a service of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

Iowa State Entomology Index of Internet Resources - A searchable database of insect-related resources on the Internet. This site has a Drupal keyword search engine, plus resources grouped by general subject areas, similar to many pages produced by Yahoo. It is produced jointly by Iowa State and Colorado State Universities.

National Agriculture Library - access the library's catalog, search journal databases, and follow internet links.

National Agriculture Pest Information System - searchable database of agricultural pests.

Natural Resources Conservation Service - Formerly the Soil Conservation Service, this federal agency works with private landowners to conserve natural resources, and helps farmers and ranchers develop conservation systems uniquely suited to their land and individual ways of doing business. The agency also provides assistance to rural and urban communities to reduce erosion, conserve and protect water, and solve other resource problems.

Plant and Soil Sciences eLibrary - A database of educational resources in plant and soil sciences from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, including lessons, animations, and a glossary. You can explore by topics and subtopics, or you can search the entire database by keyword. Content is briefly described for each entry, including student level. 

Poultry Science Association - Basic information about this important organization, including publications, membership, and meetings, as well as links to other poultry sites.

Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) - premier organization for therapeutic riding for individuals with disabilities.

Purdue Agriculture Agronomy Extension Related Websites - exhaustive listing of agronomic sites on the internet.

Sampling Methods for Forest and Shade Tree Insects of North America Vols. I and II - An online database of scholarly papers on sampling of various species of forest and shade tree insect pests, from researchers at Virginia Tech University.

Smithsonian Institution North American Mammals - a searchable database of living mammals in North America.

Soil Science Society of America - Access to the association’s newsletter, calendar, membership information, and publications, including journal tables of contents.  The website includes a glossary of soil science terms.

Texas Pest Management Association  - is the only statewide, multi-commodity, non-profit, producer organization in Texas dedicated to the development and implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.

United States Department of Agriculture - international news and national agencies, services (including research and statistics), programs and offices in the USDA and links to federal directories; browse by subject or use the site-specific search engine.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - A general introduction, guide and directory to this important bureau within the U.S. Department of the Interior. It includes an overview of the service, a list of activities, offices, and people, and news.
