Student Resources

Student Clubs

Students are encouraged to join professional organizations early in their professional careers.

Several of the student clubs are also chapters of national professional organizations, including the American Institute of Physics (AIP), Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the American Water Resource Association (AWRA).

Hydrology Club

The goal of the Tarleton State University Hydrology Club is to bring individuals with an interest in hydrology together to enable the dissemination of information and promote professional relationships. The club is committed to promoting the understanding of water resources and related issues by providing a multidisciplinary forum for education, professional development, and information exchange. The club is a student chapter of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA).

Our many activities include field trips, presentations by students, faculty, and off-campus professionals; and social events. Field trips are taken to a variety of hydrologic sites, both local and regional, and are diverse in nature. Previous trips have included dams, hydroelectric dams, aquifer recharge zones, seawalls, levee stations, subsidence districts, water, and wastewater treatment facilities. Presentations have been given by many prominent professionals in the water field as well as Tarleton alumni, graduating students, and faculty.

The hydrology club provides a forum for students with interests in water related disciplines. It is our desire to foster professional interaction among students entering hydrology from different disciplinary backgrounds and provide moral and procedural assistance in launching their professional careers.
