Join us for this historic W.K. Gordon Center Sunday Afternoon Program, "Marking History: Whitehead Cemetery Dedication," on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 2:00pm. The Whitehead Cemetery is receiving a Texas Historical Marker. This historic African American cemetery is maintained on W.K. Gordon Center grounds and serves as an important reminder of the African American community that occupied the Thurber town site. Thurber will now have nine Texas Historical Marker sites.
LeAnna Schooley, former curator at the W.K. Gordon Center, will speak on the historic Whitehead family.
The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History, a museum and research facility of Tarleton State University, is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 in Thurber, Texas. For more information, please contact 254-968-1886.
