Preserve Our Cemeteries, Preserve Our Heritage

Cemeteries hold our memories and roots. The precious monuments erected within them contain valuable information about the settlement patterns, religions, lifestyles, and genealogy of historic Texas communities. Development, vandalism, and theft endanger these special places. Thurber cemetery has suffered damage several times in the past few years. At 2:30 pm, on Sunday, February 20, 2011, Anne Shelton will discuss the Cemetery Preservation Program that the Texas Historical Commission offers to fight the dangers to these sacred places. this presentation is free to the public.
