Get in the Swing of the Holiday Season!
Ginny Mac, along with special guest guitarist Glenn McLaughlin, will give a free concert of holiday music at the W. K. Gordon Center in Thurber, Texas on Sunday, 5 December 2010. The event will begin with refreshments at 2:30 pm.
Hailing from Fort Worth, Ginny Mac fronts a young, dynamic band that includes vocal and instrumental styling in the Country & Western, Americana, Folk, Western Swing, Hot Jazz, and International music genres. The group has featured the talents of several guest musicians, including Woody Paul (from the two-time Grammy Award-winning group Riders In The Sky) Ricky Turpin (Asleep At The Wheel), Bobby Boatright and Ronny Ellis (Bob Wills' Texas Playboys), and legendary steel guitarist Tom Morrell. In 2009 the band released an album entitled There Will Be Music. Notable performances include the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in 2008-09, Accordion Kings & Queens Festival in 2007, Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in 2005, and CMT’s “Christmas In Cowboy Country” Special hosted by Clint Black in 2003.
Mac graduated from Texas Christian University in 2007. She had already recorded two albums, Sweet Sentimental Dream and Wishing River, the latter produced by legendary Tommy Allsup. She has received the “Western Swing Album of the Year” and “Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year” from the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists. She has been featured in Texas Highways, Sky Magazine, and American Cowboy.
