Sunday Afternoon Programs
The W.K. Gordon Center hosts free programs featuring guest speakers and authors once a month on Sunday afternoons. Programs cover a variety of topics relating to Texas industrial history, Thurber and local industries. Past events have included programs by Veldhuizen Cheese Company, author Dr. Gene Tucker's book "Oysters, Macaroni & Beer", Dino-Club beekeepers, wine tastings and many more! Please check the calendar or our Facebook page for program dates!
Come out for a special program by a local company from Strawn, Texas on January 18, 2015, from 2:00-4:00pm. Learn about An Ancient Art Soap Company's delightful handcrafted olive oil soaps. Also get a sneak peek at their new line of essential oils! We hope you'll join us for a wonderfully aromatic afternoon. For more information contact Shae Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org or 254-968-1886.
Night Out at the Opera House
From the 1920's to the 1930's, Thurber's famous Opera House showed silent and black & white films. The Night Out at the Opera House is a free public program that features films shown during this time period. Films are shown in the W.K. Gordon's recreated Opera House located inside the museum. Past movies have included the 1933 Dracula, 1920 The Sheik, 1933 Alice in Wonderland and more! Please check the calendar and news feed for future program dates!
We have finished our 2014 Night Out at the Opera House showings for the year. Stay tuned for details about our next film in February 2015.
We're looking forward to more great events in 2015!
