B-Social Work (fall 2011)
Tarleton State University offers a baccalaureate degree in social work, the only undergraduate degree that enables students to become licensed social workers. The BSW Program offered here at Tarleton State University, prepares graduates for licensure examination by the State of Texas as social workers, with immediate entry upon graduation into direct, human service professional positions. Nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), Tarleton State University's BSW Program meets rigorous academic standards that ensure the professional competency of graduates. CSWE accreditation also mean Tarleton's BSW graduates may be eligible for advanced placement in many graduate social work programs throughout Texas and other states.
The BSW Program blends Tarleton's liberal arts academic curriculum with professional social work foundation, including crisis intervention, assessment, interviewing strategies, services planning and theory, client case management, problem solving approaches, program evaluation and research, advocacy, and networking. Beyond the classroom training, students admitted to the program also complete an internship of over 450 hours where they build, practice, and integrate helping skills within a community human service program or organization.
