Proposal Development Assistance

Tarleton’s Office of Research and Innovation is committed to encouraging research, scholarship, and creative activity. Sponsored projects are generally those that are supported in whole or part with funds, materials, or other resources outside the system and are governed by specific terms and conditions of the sponsoring organization. These projects may include grants, contracts, federal funds, and cooperative agreements for the purpose of research, instruction, and other sponsored activities. The ORI provides coordination and oversight for grant proposal development and submission and establishes requirements for accepting funds in support of a specific project or program.

Support is offered in every step. Specifically, our office helps identify potential public funding opportunities for faculty and staff, coordinates the development of funding proposals to avoid duplicate or conflicting efforts, suggests team members for interdisciplinary projects, facilitates proposal development team meetings, edits letters of intent, proposals and applications, drafts proposal narratives, personnel vitas and standard forms for principal investigator review and refinement. We help prepare and review grant budgets and budget narratives, confirm that grant application packets are complete, meet sponsor style guidelines and are consistent with university policies, shepherd grant application packets through Tarleton's internal review process, and ensure grant applications are submitted on time.

Support is also offered to Tarleton faculty members in regards to fulfilling the purposes and meeting the requirements of the sponsored agreement. The requirements included in these agreements usually specify time periods for expending funds and provisions for financial and technical reporting.
