CURRENT RESEARCH

Biography of Texas Governor Thomas Mitchell Campbell (1856-1923).  Campbell was a

progressive.  As a reform governor from 1907-1911, he fashioned a legislative record

with  anti-trust, welfare, railroad, prison, and conservation laws.  I finished the

manuscript in August 2008.  I have four historians who have read the manuscript

and made comments (none of which were major).  I am making those editorial

changes and will be submitting the manuscript to Texas A&M University

Press Spring 2009.

A History of Texas Army Nurses in World War II.  Like other soldiers, they were sent to
battlefronts all over the world and were on the frontlines. This project has been funded
in part by the Coral H. Tullis Award.  My research includes oral histories with veterans,
document research in several archives including the National Archives and the Center

for Military History in Washington DC and the Fort Sam Houston Archives in San

Antonio.

Love Letters of Governor Campbell to his wife Fannie.  Editing for a monograph.

Diary of Col. William Bruner of the Civil War.  Editing for a monograph.
