Employee Recognition Award Winners - Physical Facilities
Three categories of employee recognition awards were given to staff members April 7, 2011.
Two of the three awards were presented to staff members of Physical Facilities.
Each recipient will receive one paid day off to be taken within 12 months of the award, and a $1500 one-time award.

Mr. Standridge has been employed at Tarleton State University for 21 years. He spends much of his personal time involved in volunteer work at Harris Methodist Hospital, Cross Timbers Pregnancy Care Center, Cross Timbers Family Services, St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Stephenville, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dublin, Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in DeLeon and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Comanche. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Also, he takes time to mentor students, helping them develop leadership skills and providing encouragement and guidance. Mr. Standridge makes a positive impact on his community and is an excellent ambassador for Tarleton.
Steve Fouts is the recipient of the Impact Award.
Steve is the HVAC/Refrigeration Supervisor and has been employed at Tarleton for two years. Steve has been instrumental in improving Tarleton's infrastructure during difficult budget times. Under his leadership, Tarleton was able to save thousands of dollars after our most recent "deep freeze" event. As a result of his skills, Tarleton saved more than $20,000 by making repairs to the air handler units that were frozen, and we were able to get the Dining Hall, Science Building, Math Building and Library air handlers back in service. Steve also ensures that some very expensive equipment is maintained properly in order to achieve maximum use. Steve improved our preventative work order system within the HVAC shop, which has been extremely valuable to Tarleton and resulted in positive moral in his shop.
Chad Evans - Senior Communications Systems Analyst was presented the Quality Service Award. Chad has been employed at Tarleton for 11 years. He is passionate about his job and loves working at Tarleton. Chad is responsible for all the telephone and data operations for Tarleton Campuses in Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco, Granbury and Thurber, coordinating the telephone and data infrastructures for all existing buildings and any new buildings, He is the first person called when there is a problem. He is known for his timeliness, diligence, and "service with a smile." Chad takes control of a situation and calmly and assuredly solves the problem.
The quality service award recognition of a staff member who:

Steve Fouts- HVAC/Refrigeration Supervisor was presented with the Impact Award.
The Impact Award recognizes staff member exhibiting :
- Problem solving/resourcefulness
- Uses alternative methods or comes up with creative solution to a problem
- Takes initiative in absence of supervision
- Overcomes obstacles and works well under unusual circumstances
- Cost savings
- Identifies innovative ways to save finances
- Initiates preventative measures or ways to save resources
- Performs job in a way that saves university money, time and/or materials
- Safety
- Identifies and corrects potential safety issues in the work area and across the University
- Takes actions to prevent injury to employees
- Makes recommendations for improving safe work practices
The Horizon Award went to Joe D. Standridge, Associate Vice President of Physical Facilities.
The Horizon Award recognizes a staff member who:
- Volunteers their time or resources to work on improvement projects on the Tarleton campus or outside the University community
- Serves as an active member of an organization that provides Tarleton students opportunities to become active in community service
- Develops and maintains relationships that extend the reputation and impact of the University
- Volunteers time or resources to help with Tarleton events outside of the normal job duties of the employee. (i.e. taking tickets at the rodeo, accompanying students on a school related trip)
- Volunteers to serve on a task force or committee within the University
- Contributes to student success
- Serves as a role model, coach, friend or advisor that people seek for help and support
- Helps others succeed in their careers
