Engineering Programs

The Department of Engineering and Physics at Tarleton State University continues to grow in the areas of engineering and applied sciences.
We currently offer two four-year engineering degrees. Both programs prepare the student for engineering employment, licensure and/or graduate school.

  • Engineering Physics - This program began in 2001 and is ABET accredited. It is a diverse engineering degree program with emphases in selected areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Materials Physics.
  • Environmental Engineering - This program began in 2005. It is one of only a handful of baccalaureate level Environmental Engineering programs in the State of Texas. The emphases for this program include water resources, environmental chemistry, wastewater treatment, and solid waste management.

The department also offers three four-year applied science degrees, any of which can use engineering as a support field:

  • Computer Science - This program provides a strong foundation in computer science, mathematics and general science.
  • Hydrology - The Hydrology program incorporates issues related to water and water resources. Hydrology students may choose an engineering track which will qualify them for engineering licensure, or they may choose a science-based track from agriculture, biology, chemistry, Geosciences or computer science.
  • Physics- Physics is the science that investigates and tries to understand the basic laws of nature, from sub-nuclear particles to distant objects of the universe.
