Campus and Community Outreach
Outreach is an important goal for the University and for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
ODI engages the community inside and outside Tarleton through variety of programs and activities.
ODI, in a collaboration with other departments, offers programs and activities designed for Stephenville and the surrounding communities.
The Community is also invited to attend seminars, speakers, and public lectures. ODI custom designs programs to engage the community in diversity related training and education.
Special Message To Tarleton Students, Faculty, and Staff
(originally published October 7, 2010)
In light of the suicides in recent weeks* by young people bullied, and in light of several recent instances of bullying (for a variety of reasons) on our own campus, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) reminds all members of our community that we are each responsible for creating and sustaining a supportive, inclusive, civil, and respectful environment here at Tarleton.
Bullying is not tolerated at Tarleton State University, for any reason.
Whatever our individual convictions may be about any specific issue, our campus must be at our best.
Every student is valued on this campus, and anyone who is struggling or feeling overwhelmed by any issue should remember that she or he is not alone.
Immediate support is available through the Student Counseling Center (254-968-9044). Also, Residence Life staff, and the ODI offer additional resources for students in need of help, a shoulder for support, or even just an ear to listen.
As our own Tarleton Creed urges us to be civil and thoughtful, I also urge us all to rise above our worst impulses and rise up to our best levels of integrity and promise.
If you or someone you know is feeling hopeless, fearful, or just tired of being harassed, please call. I am listening.
Tarleton does care.
Sincerely,
Dr. Moumin Quazi
Interim Director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion
