B.S. in Digital Media Studies

Overview

This uniquely designed program aims to prepare students for a career in today's emerging digital/technological industries. Students will take a variety of courses that will award them the knowledge and experience they will need in order to work in jobs such as:

  • Multimedia artists
  • Academic Media Producers
  • Public Service Workers

The Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Studies degree offers two concentrations:

Throughout your education at Tarleton State University, the Digital Media Studies program will supply you with an intellectually stimulating environment comprised of lectures, critiques, student groups, performances by prominent artists, as well as field trips to creative shows and exhibits. With small class sizes, our program makes sure each student has the chance to receive guidance from our experienced faculty members.

Program Objectives

Students will develop skills in web development, interactive design, digital graphics, e-marketing, electronic business, and marketing. The curriculum is composed of diverse Art, Communication, Computer Science, and English courses to offer a vast set of skills that give students an upper hand in the current job market.

The Tarleton Art Society is a student-run organization that brings together like-minded individuals from various academic disciplines to promote artistic knowledge. Each year there are a wide range of activities hosted by this organization, including fundraisers, mural painting, field trips, and workshops. Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center

The Department of Fine Arts is mostly located in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. Many special events are held in the Fine Arts Center, such as:

  • Recitals

  • Plays and Musicals
  • Gallery Exhibits
  • Performances and demonstrations by visiting artists

Digital Media students will have the opportunity to show their skills and work in art showcases.

Digital Motion Capture Lab

The Digital Media Studies program recently opened a multi-use facility in the newly renovated O.A. Grant Humanities building. The lab has several amazing features, including a state-of-the-art Vicon Motion Capture System, as well as professional video and digital imaging studio equipment. Our facilities also feature 2D and 3D printers and scanners, and other digital fabrication devices.
