B.S. in Civil Engineering

Overview

This degree focuses on the design, planning, construction, and evaluation of the infrastructure around you, including everything from roads to buildings. The program prepares students for future employment and/or licensure as engineers, innovators, and decision-makers who can apply their knowledge in areas of Structural, Transportation, Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering.

Our facilities and research equipment are comparable to large research institutions, providing you with access to industry standard tools and undergraduate research opportunities. Our faculty and institution are dedicated to student success. We provide a variety of academic success services, including faculty/peer monitoring, supplemental instruction, math/science clinics, and tutoring.

Program Objectives

Our graduates will be prepared and well equipped for licensure and employment in an industry position or consulting firms, and for continuing their education with graduate studies. These graduates will demonstrate their ability to synthesize engineering, math, and science concepts into solutions, as well as their ability to work and communicate effectively in team-oriented, project-driven environments.

The Environmental and Civil Lab houses major research facilities including:

American Society of Civil Engineers

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a national organization that is dedicated to making a difference in the industry. Some of the issues that ASCE focuses on are:

New Applied Sciences Building

The new Applied Sciences Building will house classrooms and labs for the engineering and engineering technology programs, in addition to select labs for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The building is projected to open in Fall 2018.
