Heather's Tarleton Apprentice Project

Follow along with Heather's progress, and be sure to attend Tarleton Apprentice November 8th to hear the final result of his project!

  • UPDATE #1 - October 17

Things are going well, I have been talking to a lot of people about this project, and a group of us are going to the shelter this Saturday morning. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to approve the Constitution I wrote for the brand new TSU Animal Care Association, which will work closely with B.A.R.K.

This is the flyer I am trying to distribute around to everyone, and I have even put up a few in my hometown. I cannot officially advertise anything for my organization on campus yet, so I can't put up flyers yet, but I should get that taken care of this week.

I'm still very excited about this project, and I have gotten a much better response than I expected. People are really excited to help these animals!

  • UPDATE #2 - October 25

Things are going great right now! My organization, TSU Animal Care Association, is finally getting started. My constitution was approved, and we should have a meeting and begin our donation drive very soon!

I and some friends of mine went on our first visit to the shelter this past Saturday... it was amazing! The dogs are so good tempered and fun, and the people taking care of them are just fantastic. We had so much fun, and the dogs finally had some people to spend time with them. I feel so lucky to get to be a part of this program, I feel like we are doing so much good for these animals. We are very excited to go back this coming up Saturday as well!

Below are some pictures we took this Saturday at the shelter.

  • UPDATE #3 - November 1

Things are going great right now! My organization, TSU Animal Care Association, is finally getting started. My constitution was approved, and we should have a meeting soon. I am going to Fort Worth Friday night this week to pick up donation items from a friend there, and I have recieved money donations from people in our own area that will be used to buy things for the shelter.

So far my friends and I have been on two visits to the shelter, and it's been a truly eye-opening experience.
