Admissions Application

September

Applied Student

Once you apply to Tarleton, you will receive an email notifying you that we received your application. As an “Applied Student,” you now have instructions on your UID along with a starting PIN (Date of Birth - MMDDYY). This UID can be used to apply for housing, and in the future, sign up for orientation and register for classes. If you do not know your UID use our convenient UID Lookup.

Testing and Placement Requirements

  • Review Texas Success Initiative (TSI) information to determine if you meet exemptions or need to test (THEA, ASSET, COMPASS or ACCUPLACER) or call 254-968-9269.  TSI is required for attending any public university in Texas. Scores or exemptions must be on file in Reading, Writing and Math to receive an invitation to Texan Orientation.

  • Continue requesting letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors or mentors for use in your Scholarship Application.
  • Begin completing and/or submitting the Scholarship application at the Scholarship website.  Contact the Scholarship Office at 254-968-9922 for more information.
  • Begin researching outside (independent, corporate, private) scholarship opportunities.
January
  • Begin collecting financial tax information and complete the FAFSA form by visiting our Financial Aid page and then clicking “Applying for Aid”.  Contact them at 254-968-9070 for questions.
  • If you are a dependent of a veteran, please contact our Veteran’s Benefits Office at 254-968-1830 for possible benefit information and assistance.
February
  • Submit Scholarship application by February 15 priority deadline. Contact the Scholarship Office at 254-968-9922 for more information.

Orientation / Advising

April - May
  • See TSI requirements in the Testing and Placement Requirements section above. This must be completed before signing up for orientation or advising.
  • Sign up for a Texan Orientation (Freshman Orientation).  See First Year Experience. Be expecting your invitation in mid-May.
June - August
  • Attend a Texan Orientation (Freshman Orientation).  See First Year Experience.
  • Consider attending Duck Camp in August to get an edge on your first year at Tarleton and have fun meeting your new classmates.

Admissions Application Final Transcripts

June - August
  • Send final official high school transcript after graduation for academic record to Tarleton State University, Box T-0030, Stephenville, TX  76402.
  • Send final college transcript(s) for dual credit and/or college courses.  Contact Transfer Services for questions on transferability of courses at 254-968-9353.
  • Send official AP or CLEP scores for credit evaluation.

Register for Classes

Before the semester you are enrolling in
  • Check out the Course Schedule for the semester you are enrolling in. Check out the current Catalog for degree and course information.
  • Use myGateway to register for classes.
  • Check your Financial Aid status inside myGateway.
  • Pay your tuition and fees bill inside myGateway using Texan Bill Pay.

Withdraw Application

After you receive your UID and PIN
  • Let Tarleton State University know if you are withdrawing your application.  Fill out the Application Withdrawal Request Form to remove your application for admission for the specified semester.

Registered Student

When you have completed registration for classes, you will be a “Registered Student.” In order to access all the services Tarleton provides, you will need to activate your new email account and network ID.

After you registered
  • Claim your Tarleton Email Account, otherwise known as "Go" Email.
  • Your "Go" Email is the official communication method for classes, events and campus information.  If you do not check your email, you will be missing essential information needed for a successful university experience.

University ID Card (Texan Card)

After you receive your UID and PIN
  • Main campus (Stephenville) students can obtain their ID card by going to the Tarleton Center, Room 101. Off campus students will need to contact their campus representatives to take a photo that will be submitted for processing. For more information, please contact Texan Card Services at 254-968-1880 or visit the Texan Card website.
  • Texan Cards can hold Texan Bucks that can be used to make purchases on and off campus in the Stephenville area. Students and parents can make deposits to their Texan Bucks online.

Course Schedules and Billing (myGateway)

After you receive your UID and PIN
  • You can view all your student records on myGateway, the Tarleton portal. This includes registration, course schedules, grades, financial aid status, unofficial transcripts, status holds, and degree evaluations.
  • You can view your tuition and fees statement and pay online (Texan Bill Pay) through myGateway.

Parking Permit

After you claim your network ID (NTNET or “st_account”)
  • You can purchase your first Stephenville campus parking permit by logging into the Parking Services website with your NTNET username and password. For Fort Worth, Waco, and Weatherford students, please contact the campus you will be attending.

When classes begin, you are a “Current Student”! Congratulations!
