Here is the Spring 2008 class of Tarleton State University student teachers. Please feel free to browse their resumes and contact them if you see they will fit your agricultural science program needs.
GINA AKE: Enthusiasm and patience are qualities that portray her. A diverse background in agriculture that includes cattle, sheep and horses, has been refined thru years of ranching. As a caring individual, she has an understanding of students that emerge with interaction. A learner centered brain based environment is where she will excel. As a graduate, she steps into high school teaching with a unique background. Her teaching career began almost 6 years ago as an Emergency Medical Technician instructor with Central Texas College of Killeen. She holds a current Paramedic certification as well as a TDH instructor’s certification. She would love to become an asset to any school large or small.
VANESSA ALFARO : After completing four years of college, she is extremely excited to begin her career as an educator. Being raised in an urban and then a rural environment, she is well rounded in different aspects of agriculture that impact our daily lives. Vanessa’s patience, hard work, and persistence are exhibited through her learner-centered and activity-based lessons. She looks forward to being a part of the future of agriculture.
ANTHONY BEGGS: I am confident that my experience as an agricultural producer will enhance my abilities as an educator through knowledge, work ethic, and experience. As a former peanut producer and current cattle producer, I am aware of the skills and abilities required to succeed in the agricultural industry in today’s modern world. Combined with my experience and education, I feel I can lead students to success through experiential learning, brain-based activities, and participation in agricultural tasks.

JENNIFER KEEL:
JAMES KIMMEY: James considers himself a facilitator of learning, rather than a traditionalist teacher. He finds that prompting students to work together to learn from each other is, oftentimes, more effective than me explaining concepts, procedures, or ideas. James engages students in research, so they can learn for themselves. He also has students work collaboratively in laboratory situations. Students with high achievement levels in these areas grasp concepts quickly, while inexperienced students learn more efficiently when their peers teach them. With his philosophy, classroom management becomes easier. Students learn their decisions will affect their ultimate performance. His philosophy fosters attributes such as strong work ethic, working well with others, self-motivation, and producing quality work of which students are proud. James had quite an extensive Supervised Agricultural Experience Program in high school. He raised all species of livestock, other than poultry, which earned him his American FFA Degree.
