What is the Tarleton Upward Bound Project?
We are one of several TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education that are deigned to provide a wide range of academic and cultural enrichment for our participants.
In our 33 years on the Tarleton campus, we have provided a wide range of free services that have hundreds of area high school students gained the necessary skills and motivation to pursue a post-secondary education. What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound provides fundamental support ot participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in pre-college performance and ultimately in higher education pursuits. Tarleton State University's Upward Bound serves high school students form low-income families and higher students from families in which neither parent holds a Bachelors degree who are preparing to enter postsecondary education. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate form institutions of postsecondary education.
All Upward Bound projects must provide instruction in math, laboratory science, composition, literature, and foreign language.
