Schedule of Events: August 19-28, 2016

When you arrive for Transition Week, you will be assigned to a small group of incoming classmates to share the week's experiences. You will also be assigned a Texan Transition Mentor (TTM) and Residential Leader (RL) who will guide you throughout the week.

  • ALL new incoming first-time in college students are required to attend Transition Week - NO MATTER HOW MANY DUAL CREDIT HOURS!
  • ONLY Transfer students with less than 12 credit hours are required to attend Transition Week.
  • Transfer students with more than 12 credit hours are NOT eligible to attend Transition Week.


August 19
  • We welcome our first wave of Tarleton Texans with New Student Move-in


August 20

Saturday's events are reserved for students who are participating in Tarleton's Honors & Living-Learning Communities.

  • Learning Community Rotation Sessions & Dinner
  • New Student Move-In


August 21

On Sunday, the last group of new Texans arrive. Events will help you get to know your new Tarleton Family.

August 22

Your Tarleton academic journey begins on Monday as you meet the dean of your college. Later in the day, check out Rec Fest!

  • ALL commuter students check-in Thompson Student Center (RM 201) 2ndFloor from 7:30 a.m.-9 a.m.


August 23

On Tuesday, you will continue to gather the tools for academic success with your First Year Seminar (FYS) class.

  • Greek Night with Fraternity and Sorority Life


August 24

As the week hits the halfway mark, you'll gain more knowledge to become successful.

  • First Year Seminar course

August 25

On Thursday you will learn how to utilize your strengths to propel you to success. Also, enjoy some entertainment!

  • Conference Rotations
  • Group Time
  • Recreation Time (Movie on the Lawn, Dueling Pianos concert, Texan BINGO, etc.)


August 26

As the week begins to wind down, explore how you can serve the community. Continue your day with fellow classmates while enjoying some free live music and dancing!

  • Volunteer Fair

  • Texan Talent Tryouts
  • Concert/Street Dance


August 27

Connect with current students and organizations at Tarleton & be introduced to great traditions and spirit.

  • Returning Students & Transfer Students with more than 12 hours Move-In
  • Community Expo & Organizational Fair
  • Spirit Rally
  • Purple and White Football Scrimmage
  • Texan Talent Show
  • All new Transfer Students are invited to participate with Convocation & Candle Lighting ceremonies


August 28

Sunday is the culmination of Transition Week when you will get to experience two of Tarleton's most treasured and moving traditions.
