Take a closer look at past Tarleton students who have experienced real life success.

Here is Shanna's story:

Shanna Scarborough is a May 2012 graduate from Tarleton.  She recently accepted a position with Wichita Falls ISD.  Her position will keep her busy; she will be teaching accounting, BIM, and be a tennis coach.  After being offered the position, Shanna contacted the Career Services department to let us know that it was her participation in the Teacher Job Fair that led to her landing this exciting opportunity.

Being a Business Major who pursued Teacher Certification, Shanna was required to participate in several Career Services events, including Mock Interviews, Resume Help Appointments and Job Fairs.  She also utilized several resources, incorporating what she learned in class presentations and from the Career Services website and handbook to help her prepare for her new role.  But it was while she was attending the 2012 Teacher Job Fair that Shanna made a connection with Wichita Falls ISD – a school district that she hadn’t previously applied at.

Shanna visited with the school district recruiter and was interviewed on the spot at the Job Fair.  The next day, Wichita Falls contact Shanna’s references.  “I was really surprised at how it all fell into place, but I’m very excited about this opportunity, “ Shanna told Career Services.  When asked what advice she would give to other students and alumni about finding success in this competitive economy she said, “Definitely take advantage of all the opportunities on campus – don’t take them for granted.”

We encourage you to come to Career Services today to see how we can help YOU become the next success story!
