Rays of Sunlight

Kyle Poole

Rays of sunlight travel searching for rest.
Trumpets blast and roosters squawk spreading the news of the rays’ arrival.
Flowers bloom, grass rise, and trees dance to welcome the new day.
The planet begins to buzz with furious zest.

This canvas captures motion everywhere,
But one spot contradicts its theme.
Faceless and solo a man sits.
Alien to the world around he is motionless.

He must be diseased,
because he does not participate in life.
The heart tells suggests something’s wrong.

As the world stirs with haste, one man finds rest and that is a place rays of sunshine cannot find traveling at the speed of light.
