Mr. Newberry is a member of the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department at Tarleton State University , in Killeen Texas . Mr. Newberry retired from the United States Army in 1986 and is a Vietnam War veteran. He served for 21 years in the United States Army at locations all around the world. Mr. Newberry has many awards and commendation including the Bronze Star and Three awards of the Meritorious Service Medal and he was a U.S. Army Ranger. Mr. Newberry's primary specialty while serving was in the computer operations and management area. He has extensive operational experience as a software engineer, database administrator and developer, network designer and manager as well as in a wide array of other computer related positions. Mr. Newberry's last position prior to becoming a CIS professor was as the Chief of Information Systems (CIO) for Texas largest employer.

Mr. Newberry teaches Computer Information Systems courses and has done so for the past 20 years. He teaches a wide variety of courses for Tarleton State University but concentrates primarily in the software engineering and database development and administration areas. Prior to teaching at Tarleton Mr. Newberry taught at American Technological University and the University of Central Texas where he was an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Program Director as well as the Director of Automation for the University.

Mr. Newberry has a master's degree in Computer Science, a master's degree in management and is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College, a master's degree granting institution.
