Lesson Topic:

Research in Agricultural/Extension Education
Objectives:
  1. List and briefly describe the major steps involved in conducting a research study.
  2. Given a published article in agricultrual/extension education, identify and state the problem or topic chosen to study, procedures employed to conduct the study, method of analyzing collected data, and description of the major conclusion of the study.
  3. Briefly define and state the major characteristics of a variety of research approaches utilized in agricultural/extension education.
  4. For each research approach, search and identify an appropriate research study.

 

Activities:

  1. Read Chapter 1 - Introduction to Educational Research.
  2. Respond to the Blackboard Discussion Post and one other classmate's post for the chapter reading before Monday at Noon.
  3. Visit the Journal of Agricultural Education. Select and print an article of your choice. Identify the following in the article and bring the article with you to class:
    Problem/Topic Studied
    Objectives/Hypotheses
    Procedures/Methodology
    Data Analysis Methods
    Conclusions/Discussion
