Come
to class.
Take
thorough notes in class. (Writing helps in retention of
information. And of course, if it's in your notes you can go back
and study it later!)
Use the outlines above to guide you while you take notes in class.
Retype/rewrite
your notes after class, preferably in color. (The use of color has
been linked to retention of information when studying.)
Take
your own notes from the book.
Create
a one-page summary of each chapter to guide you while you study.
(Choosing the important concepts from each chapter will help you focus
your study efforts.)
Visit
the book's website for more than your homework assignments. There
they have chapter summaries, links to interesting and relevant websites,
and other activities.
Check
out the CD that came with your book.
Don't
wait until the night or two before a test to study. Study a little
bit every day so the new terms and concepts become familiar and
comfortable.
