Meetings: Meetings are generally scheduled for the second Friday of each month throughout the academic year. For information, please contact Dr. Lyon or any of the officers listed on the SHRM bulletin board, which is located in the Texas A&M University-Central Texas hallway east of the computer lab.
New HR Job Postings: Our student chapter is actively involved in locating internships and HR jobs in our local area. All new job information is posted in Dr. Lyon's office (SCD C-212). Please share any leads with Dr. Lyon and our chapter leaders.
SHRM Information: The Texas A&M University--Central Texas SHRM chapter has been affiliated nationally with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)since 1989. Through a variety of activities, the chapter provides professional development, leadership and scholarship opportunities, as well as social and civic participative events. 8/29/11: Our school mascot (Warriors) images will be released this semester! Check it out at TAMUCT.org.
8/29/11: When our new building opens in 2012, the School of Business Administration (SOBA) will be moved to the new location at TX 201 and US 195, near the Killeen airport. SOBA will be located on the third floor of the beautiful four-floor glass and limestone facility.
1/14/10: Our school colors (navy blue, maroon, silver) and mascot (Warriors) were announced! Congratulations to TAMUCT Warriors!
8/28/09: As we begin our inaugural year as Texas A&M University--Central Texas, many firsts are about to happen. Students will help to determine our school colors, mascot, and much more. Several of our programs have moved to a new, North Campus, location at the former KISD Fairway Middle School campus, just north of Rancier. All of our business programs will remain at our main facility on Clear Creek Road, with many classes taught there and at the Fort Hood Soldier Development Center. Further, we will meet with the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce to break ground at our future building location (corner of Fort Hood Road and TX 201) on September 4, 2009. Congratulations to Students and Alumni for Their Employment Successes:
Dr. Randy Baca, PHR - complete UMHB's doctoral program in 2010; promoted to vice president at Temple College in 2006; served as the 2006 CTHRMA President;
Kevin Canfield - after several years in education support, Kevin is now working as the human resource manager for Delta Centrifugal company in Temple, TX; Kevin received a Jim Wilkins HR Southwest scholarship, valued over $4000 in 2004
Jan Grimsley, SPHR - as a military spouse, Jan recently located away from our area--again. After several years in Arlington, VA, Jan returned to Central Texas and served as the Vice President, Human Resources at PDI, Inc. in Temple, Texas from 2005-2009. While here, Jan lived at Fort Hood with her husband, General Will Grinsley.
Melinda Guthrie - served as the university library director at ATU, UCT, and TSU-CT over a 27-year period and never changed offices until her retirement; she retired on August 31, 2009
Nathan Haley - serves as the Central Texas market human resource manager for WalMart, Inc.; retired from service in the U.S. Army in 2006
Sammy Hodges - serves as training manager for McLane's contracting unit
Ellen Lo - serves as HR coordinator at Scott and White hospital; Elllen received a Jim Wilkins HR Southwest scholarship, valued at $4000, in 2006
Colleen McLaughlin - completed doctoral degree in 2005 and is an on-line university professor
Lillian Prevost - serves as the assistant director of human resources for the City of Killeen
Robert Schumacher - ACAP counselor at Fort Hood; was part of Home Depot's HR team before their reduction in force
Velma Waddle - serves as Texas A&M University-Central Texas' recruiter for the eastern Bell County area
Adrienne Washington, PHR - serves as the benefits administrator at the Temple VA Medical Center; she completed an HRM internship at the Temple VA Medical Center in 2008. Adrienne received a Jim Wilkins HR Southwest scholarship, valued at $4000, in 2005
