Temperature changes
•In order to know how temperature affects an equilibrium mixture, you have to be given the DH for the reaction.
•N2(g)  +  3 H2(g)          2 NH3(g)     DH = –91.8 kJ
•
•
•When temperature is increased by adding heat, the reaction will try to remove the added heat by moving in the endothermic direction. •When temperature is decreased by removing heat, the reaction will try to replaced the removed heat by moving in the exothermic direction. •These directions are determined by the sign on DH .
