Various scholarships are available for theatre majors in this department ranging from $300 to $1100 per semester. Scholarships are awarded first to those students who declare a major in theatre. If funds are available, theatre scholarships may be awarded to theatre minors who choose to certify in theatre arts.
Auditions are required for all scholarships. They consist of two contrasting pieces, memorized and well rehearsed, approximately one to two minutes in length each. For technical and design students, presentation of a portfolio may replace an acting audition. Students audition for the theatre faculty. We will be looking for talent and experience, as well as potential for success in theatre.
Auditions may be waived if a Tarleton Theatre faculty member sees a student performance in a U.I.L. One Act Play during either the Area or Regional Contests hosted by Tarleton State University. Please notify Mark Holtorf, Associate Professor of Theatre and Contest Manager, prior to your performance. He may be reached at 254.965.9888 or email@example.com.
Auditions are by appointment. Please call Mark Holtorf, Associate Professor of Theatre, at 254.968.9888 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a time to visit Tarleton. While here, you will audition, tour the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center, meet and visit with theatre students, and tour the campus as your schedule permits
It is recommended that auditions be completed as early as possible to be guaranteed full consideration for financial aid. A scholarship application must be completed, with a priority deadline of February 15. Students may inquire about many other scholarships by contacting the Scholarship Office at (254) 968-9922.
