Academic Appeals

Student academic appeals in the Department of Communication Studies will follow the procedures listed below:

  1. The student will meet directly with the faculty member involved. They will attempt to resolve the dispute between them. A third party will be present if and only if both parties agree.
  2. If the student is unsatisfied they may appeal to the Department Head. The Department Head will require a written compliant, including all documentation of the disputed grade. The Department Head will form a committee of three (including the DH) to consider the appeal. The committee will interview the faculty, the student or request additional information from any party.
  3. If the student is unsatisfied with the decision of the committee they may appeal to the Dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts.
  4. If the student is unsatisfied with the decision of the Dean they may appeal to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
