English MA Degree

What is PEEPs?

PEEPs is offered through the Tarleton State University Department of English and Languages, tailored to meet the special needs of those interested in earning a degree through distance learning, especially   (but not limited to) Texas high school teachers who need to be qualified to teach dual credit English courses in their high schools, in response to Texas State House Bill 1 (which requires that 12 hours of dual credit be offered to high school students).

PEEPs is a non-thesis option Master of Arts degree plan that
  • Works around students’ busy schedules
  • Provides teachers with the necessary credentials to teach dual credit courses
  • Bolsters teachers’ faculty development requirements
  • Provides the kind of training that will help boost TAKS scores

PEEPs is a program that is primarily online, so that students can complete their MA with minimal travel requirements to our campus in Stephenville. As such, PEEPs will also require a two week internship residency at our Stephenville campus during one of the summers of the two year program that provides exposure to real-time composition classes and students.

PEEPs will offer at least 3 online hours per long semester and up to 9 online hours during the summer,so that completion of the degree is possible in two-four years, depending on your pace.
