Welcome from the Department Head

Greetings from the Department of Psychology and Counseling at Tarleton State University. As Department Head, I am pleased to welcome you to our website.

The purpose of this site is to allow you to investigate our department so as to learn about our faculty, our students, and our staff. Some of you may be interested in the graduate and undergraduate programs offered by our department, while others may be interested in the research activities of our faculty.

The department is a community of scholars with expertise ranging from school and professional counseling to applied psychology and experimental research.  We offer courses at the main campus in Stephenville, online, and at satellite locations in Fort Worth, Weatherford, and Waco.  Approximately 900 students major in the programs offered by the department.

The Psychology major is one of the largest at Tarleton State University.  Graduates earn the Bachelor of Science degree and many continue on to graduate studies.

The Psychology and Counseling graduate programs are also popular with students.  These programs include:

* Master of Education in Counseling (including certification in School Counseling) 
* Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (with options for Licensed Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapy)
