Tick Management Study at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
Currently a study is underway assessing various tick management strategies at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, in nearby Glen Rose, TX. The study is focusing on the spinose ear tick (Otobius megnini) and its presence on and off host animals within the facility. Host species include a variety of exotic and endangered species such as zebra, antelope, and gazelle. Live-trapping efforts to check native wildlife such as raccoons, opossums, and deer mice, are also a big part of the project.
