This program will be held in Bilboa, Spain. You will receive Tarleton credit, and the and the program director will be Mr. Burton Smith, Director of Spanish.

Course Of Study. Total Spanish language and culture immersion consisting of five weeks study abroad in Pamplona, Spain from TBA, 2012. The study of the Spanish language will be at intermediate or advanced level, as determined by the individual student's previous completion of Beginning I & II Spanish or higher level courses in conjunction with local placement assessments. Family homestay is an integral part of this program.

Goals And Objectives. Students will significantly improve their oral skills in Spanish in both listening comprehension and oral production, as well as develop an appreciation for Spanish culture through living and studying that culture.

Students at the intermediate level should display near perfect use of the present tense, mastery of the past tenses (preterit and imperfect), limited use of subjunctive (present), and recognition of conditional and past subjunctive.

Students at the advanced level should demonstrate higher levels of the above grammar to include use of past subjunctive and command forms. Students at the advanced levels will be able to use specialized vocabulary in their chosen fields (medicine, teaching, business, etc.).

All students will be able to discuss Spanish culture, and those taking and receiving credit for the Tarleton course in Spanish and Spanish-American culture (SPAN 406) will be able to discuss Spanish culture in detail.

Business majors will become knowledgeable of businesses and business practices in northern Spain, and CJ majors will become knowledgeable of law enforcement agencies and the judicial systems of northern Spain.
