Gifts in Memory

No matter what their size, gifts to commemorate a family member, classmate, faculty member, or friend can be designated toward any existing fund, perhaps one to which the decedent directed gifts during his or her lifetime, or left to the discretion of the University.

Should you wish to include information in an obituary for others to make a memorial gift, here is some sample wording:

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Tarleton State University for the [name of fund]. Checks should be payable to Tarleton State University and mailed to the Office of Development, Box T-0260, Stephenville, TX 76402. Please include a note stating that your gift is in memory of [name].

Notification to Families of Memorial Gifts

Upon receipt of a memorial gift, the Office of Development sends the donor a note of appreciation and acknowledgement for tax purposes. A list of the names and addresses of all donors will also be sent to a designated family member or friend.

"I am teaching today because of the scholarships I received while at Tarleton. I saw each scholarship as a direct investment in my life as a teacher. That investment will continue to grow as I invest in each of my students in the classroom. It is a gift that keeps on giving."

- Candace Hoggard

"It is such a wonderful feeling knowing that I will have a minimal amount of debt to repay. I have the scholarships I received at Tarleton to thank for that."

- Amy Hudson

Ely Borrero

"During my time at Tarleton, I was able to gain key leadership skills, such as staff management, presentation and public relation skills, that I use every day in my current career. Without my experiences at Tarleton, uncovering my passions, strengths and career goals would have been an uphill battle."
