What are the objectives of the PEIC project?
- Improve P-16 academic performance in Math and for English Language Learners (ELL)
- Increase Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Texas Assessment of Knowledge and skills (TAKS) accountability performance in participating schools
- Increase completion rates in all participating public schools, community colleges and universities
- Create a successful novice teacher experience in high-need subject areas
What data will be used in the selection process?
Current Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) and accountability data:
- TAKS math results by student subgroups, including ELL
- AYP status
- TAKS performance standards
- Dropout and completion rates
- Accountability ratings
- Campus Improvement Plan
What services will be provided through the PEIC project?
- Coordinate a needs assessment for school improvement
- Provide support in meeting state and national performance standards for math and ELL
- Assist with curriculum alignment and instructional design processes
- Offer professional development opportunities
- Implement teacher mentoring and advising programs for novice teachers
- Promote school completion and college readiness
What resources will be provided to partnership campuses?
- PEIC Campus Performance Team to guide program planning and evaluation
- Performance Advisors to assist with the improvement of curriculum and instruction in math and ELL

What is the plan for the PEIC project?
- Stage One
- Identify 18 PEIC campuses in the Tarleton State University service area (3 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 7 high schools, and 2 K-12 schools)
- Identify PEIC performance teams and novice teacher participants
- Establish school, teacher and performance targets
Create an improvement plan with each PEIC campus
- Develop a service delivery plan with each PEIC campus
- Initiate and evaluate design work on academic and professional interventions
- Stage Two
- Implement strategies toward improving student performance in identified schools
- Determine appropriate student performance benchmarks
- Utilize online products
- Professional development for math and ELL
- Teacher mentoring
- Deliver customized services to schools to improve student achievement
- Disseminate “Best Practices” as determined by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Research and Development (R&D) Centers
