| WRAP-UP:
Accessing Resources |
As
Unit 2 shows, Tarleton State University libraries offer many online
resources for research. Some of these resources are freely available
(i.e. catalog item records and some e-journals), while others are
password protected and require a Tarleton network username (i.e. subscription
databases, e-books, and some e-journals) or instructor-supplied usernames
and passwords (i.e. e-reserves).
Learning the processes by which password protected resources can
be accessed is an important step in getting ready to conduct research
from off-campus computers. Therefore, this unit introduced two
methods by which qualified users can gain access: 1) EZProxy and
2) the VPN connection.
After reading this unit and performing the activities, you should
have claimed your username and password and established your network
connection, which prepares you to access the libraries' online resources
and begin your research.
You should, however, begin your research with a plan. Therefore, the
next unit explains several activities that are typical parts of the
research process.
