Effective January 4, 2001, the Dick Smith Library will permit limited eating and drinking within the Library. We are counting on all of our patrons to help us make sure that the books and the computers remain safe and that the building stays clean:People who disregard the policy will be asked to either put their food or unacceptable drink container away or leave the library.
- DRINKS are permitted, in rigid spill-proof mugs and bottles with pop-up or screw tops only, in the study areas throughout the library. Other containers are not permitted.
- Keep food and drink away from computer keyboards and the books and journals. NOTE: Food and drink are NOT ALLOWED in the Limited Room, Genealogy Room, the Computer Resource Center, or library computer workstations and microform readers.
- ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. If you spill something please clean it up and let a staff member know right away! It happens to everyone and we just want to make sure it gets cleaned up. Cleaning supplies are stored on every floor:
- Main Floor – At the Circulation Desk.
- First Floor – At the Information Desk
- Third Floor – In the Administration Office
- DISPOSE of any trash properly before you leave. Encourage your fellow patrons to take care of the library and to treat it responsibly.
- All buildings on the Tarleton campus are SMOKE FREE
We hope this change will make the Library a more comfortable, more productive place for you. It is up to you to make it work. After all, it is your library.
*The Library reserves the right to suspend this policy for special library events.
