The purpose of collection development at Tarleton State University Libraries is to build library collections designed to support the curriculum and recreational reading of our University Students, Staff, Faculty and Special Users. We order, receive, and catalog materials in a timely, accurate, and financially responsible manner.If you would like to make a purchase suggestion for the library, you may complete the Request form online.

We welcome monetary donations as well as gifts of books, journals, magazines, audio CDs, DVDs, and other materials. Donations and gifts can be made in memory or honor of individuals or groups. What kinds of gifts or donations are needed?
Answer: Monetary donations are extremely helpful and welcome, as well as gifts of books, journals, magazines, audio CDs, DVDs, and other materials. We accept gifts unconditionally with the understanding that we are not obligated to include them in our collection. We are grateful for any gift or donation of any size or type.
Can graduating seniors give gifts in honor of their instructors and professors?
Answer: Absolutely. We welcome checks in honor of faculty members with or without a list of recommended books. Please enclose your name and address so we may acknowledge your gift.
If I write a check, can I choose the books to add to your collection?
Answer: We welcome your suggestions of titles to add to our collection. We also accept subject area and publisher suggestions. Recommended titles are evaluated in terms of the curriculum, research, and recreation of the students and faculty at Tarleton State University.
