3 Exams 30%
Short answer exams consisting of 8 -10
questions that can be
answered
in a few sentences or a short paragraph.
3 (4) Quizzes 10%
Four announced ten question fill in the blank
quizzes given
sometime
before each each major exam. One quiz grade will
be
dropped. These quizzes are given at the
beginning of the
period,
so be on time. NO LATE TAKERS! NO MAKE-UPS!
1 Final 20%
The exam is multiple choice consisting of 100
questions. You
will
need to bring a green Scantron answer sheet.
Laboratory 40%
2 Exams 20%
These are written exams and not practical type
exams. The
basis
of these is: what you did; how you did
it; what was the
significance
of the results; what does it mean; and also the
information
in the assigned reading and the material orally
presented
in the lab.
“Pop” quizzes may be given now and then over
the coming
exercise.

Lab Reports 10%
The formal hand-in report from each of the
exercises are graded
on
the basis of: “is it filled out
completely and properly”?
These
are graded on a scale of 0 - 10.
7-8 Unknowns 10%
A majority of the exercises have an unknown
associated with
them.
The basis of this grade is the correctness
of the
identification
or response.
You
will have one “big” general unknown which will make up
50%
of your total unknown semester grade.
