HOUSING

 

The Residential Living and Learning at Tarleton State University is committed to providing a residential community that supports and enhances the development of life skills in a safe and clean environment. Research has shown that students who reside on campus tend to be more involved in academic and extracurricular activities, earn a higher grade point average, frequently exceed predicted levels of learning and personal development and are more likely to complete their college education within the prescribed program length.

RESIDENCE HALLS
Tarleton provides on-campus housing for approximately 1,500 students. Residence hall rooms have telephone, cable TV and high speed Internet outlets provided at no additional cost. Ice and vending machines, TV lounges, and laundry facilities are available in each facility.

Men’s Residence Halls

 

Bender and Ferguson Halls are Air-conditioned hall with living space that accommodates men only. This hall has three floors that are divided into ramps. Each ramp houses approximately 40 students who share a restroom and shower facility. Rooms are semi-private with TV service, local telephone and two local area network connections provided. Utility charges, a microwave/refrigerator and post office box are also included in the cost. Preference is given to current residents followed by all other requests prioritized according to the date their housing deposit was received.

Women’s Residence Halls

Hunewell Hall and Hunewell Annex are newly renovated air-conditioned residence halls that house women only. Rooms are arranged in suites with two rooms joined by a bathroom. Rooms are semi-private with hook-up available for TV service, local telephone, and two local area network computer connections provided. Utility charges, a microwave/refrigerator and post office box are also included in the cost. A television lounge is located on the first floor of Hunewell Hall and laundry facilities are available on the first floor of Hunewell Annex. Preference is given to current residents followed by all other requests prioritized according to the date their housing deposit was received.

Gough and Moody Hall are twin non-air-conditioned facilities with community baths, located in the historical center of campus near the dining hall. Each room has two large windows, two closets and a ceiling fan as well as hook-up available for TV service, local telephone, and two local area network computer connections provided. Utility charges, a microwave/refrigerator and post office box are also included in the cost. Preference is given to current residents followed by all other requests prioritized according to the date their housing deposit was received.

Co-ed Residence Halls


Traditions Hall is a four-story, air-conditioned building that accommodates both men and women. Women reside on the second and third floors and men on the first and fourth floors. Each room has its own private bath. Laundry facilities and ice and vending machines are available on the first floor. Traditions Hall houses primarily sophomore, junior, and senior-level students. Utility charges, a microwave/refrigerator and post office box are also included in the cost. First preference is given to current residents followed by other on-campus students, prioritized by the number of hours they have completed. All other requests are considered in the order of the date their housing deposit was received. Spaces may be held for special housing options such as Presidential Honors Program.

Crockett Hall is an air-conditioned hall that is arranged in suites with two rooms sharing a common bath. Crockett Hall houses approximately 144 residents, with men on the first floor and women on the second. Rooms are semi-private with hook-up available for TV service, local telephone, and two local area network computer connections provided. Utility charges, a microwave/refrigerator and post office box are also included in the cost. Laundry facilities and ice and vending machines are available on the first floor of Crockett Hall. First preference is given to current residents followed by other on-campus students, prioritized by the number of hours they have completed. All other requests are considered in the order of the date their housing deposit was received. Spaces may be held for special housing options such as Freshman Living Learning.

Centennial Hall is the latest addition to Tarleton. Centennial Hall has study areas and laundries on each floor room, computer room, reservable meeting/study rooms and a 24-hour desk. Student rooms will be semi-private with a bath in each room and individually controlled air-conditioning, ceiling fans, TV service, local telephone and two local area network computer connections provided. Utility charges, a microwave/refrigerator and post office box are also included in the cost. There are two primary room arrangements with half splitting the sleeping quarters for increased privacy and half combining the space for increased flexibility. Designated as a freshman hall, a limited number of returning students will be assigned to this facility to provide positive role models for new students. Returning students will be expected to have achieved a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA. All other requests will be considered in the order of the date their hosing deposit was received. Spaces may be held for special housing options such as Presidential Honors Program.

Campus Apartments


Summit Apartment complexes are located on the north side of campus. The apartments have two bedrooms/ two bathrooms. Each apartment is furnished, has central heat and air, cable, telephone service and direct Internet access. Utility charges and post office box are also included in the cost. Residents must be eligible to live off campus. First preference is given to current residents and then to new families. Other applications are considered according to the date they applied. Children under 12 are assigned to first floor apartments only.

Lonestar Apartments contain twelve 2-bedroom/1-bathroom apartments. Each apartment is furnished to house two single students. Each apartment has a hook-up available for TV service, telephone, ceiling fans and two local area network computer connections provided. Utility charges and post office box are also included in the cost. Residents must be eligible to live off campus. First preference is given to current residents followed by other on-campus students, prioritized by the number of hours they have completed. All other requests are considered in the order of the date their housing deposit was received.

Venture Apartments  contain one and two bedroom units. Each one bedroom is furnished to house two single students but may house a married couple or parent and child. Each 2-bedroom apartment is furnished to house three single students, but can easily house a family of four. Each apartment has a hook-up available for TV service, local telephone, and two local area network computer connections provided. Utility charges and post office box are also included in the cost. Residents must be eligible to live off campus. First preference is given to current residents and then to new families. Other applications are considered according to the date they applied. Children under 12 are assigned to first floor apartments only.

Texan Village (New Apartments) consist of three – three story buildings with twenty-four 4-bedroom/2-bath units. Each resident has their own bedroom with a hook-up available for TV, telephone and computer service and will share a bathroom, kitchen, living room and balcony. The apartment is equipped with a full refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal and ceiling fans. Utility charges and post office box are also included in the cost. Assignments are competitive, based on the number of semester hours the applicants have completed.
