Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Dr. Floyd became Tarleton's first Vice President for Institutional Advancement in 1992. He provides leadership and supervision for the following departments: Development (including major gifts, annual fund, estate analysis, planned giving and all other giving options); Alumni Relations; Public Information; Publications and Graphic Design; Printing Center; Sports Information; and the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center in Granbury. He also works as an advisor to the  Tarleton State University Foundation, Inc., and the Tarleton Alumni Association. 

As principal author and director of Tarleton's "Culture of Excellence Capital Campaign," Dr. Floyd was responsible for organizing, coordinating and managing all activities of the campaign. The $40 million, six-year campaign was completed on June 30, 2002, with more than $42.9 million.  The case statement for the Campaign is available at http://www.tarleton.edu/~univdev/campaign/pg1.html
In April 2000, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) visiting team awarded a commendation for excellence in fund raising. 

In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Floyd also serves as a tenured research professor in the College of Education and holds a joint appointment with Texas A&M University--Commerce, as a Senior Graduate Faculty member. 

A published scholar, Dr. Floyd has authored and/or edited over 40 articles and books and has been a featured speaker and presenter at a number of state, regional and national conferences.  He presented a paper at the Summer 2001 Oxford Round Table at Oxford University in Oxford, England.  He co-edited a series of 4 editions of the Journal of Management Systems for the Association of Management. For ten years he served as Newsletter editor for the American Education Finance Association and has been a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Education Finance since 1975.
