Connecting to your H: Drive

Setup Instructions for Windows XP Pro

1.  Connect to Tarleton ISP or if you are using another ISP then you must run the VPN client after you connect.

2.  Click on Start, then select Connect To. Right click on your Tarleton connection and click on Properties.

3.  Click on the Networking tab at the top.  Check the box for “Client for Microsoft Networks”, then click the OK button.

4. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Click the Properties Button.

5. Click the Advanced Button.

6. Select the WINS tab, the NetBIOS setting needs to be set to enable.

7.  Make sure that you are online before you begin these next steps.  Click on Start, then right click on My Computer, then choose “Map Network Drive…” from the menu.

8.  Select “H:” from the Drive list box.  In the Folder list box, type in \\store01\st_username.  (Notice which way the slash is leaning; it is a BACKSLASH.)  Make sure that there is a check in the “Reconnect at logon” box.  Click Finish.

9.  In the Connect As: text box, enter “ntnet\st_username” and your password in the box below that.  Click the OK Button.

10.  Your H: drive should now be in the My Computer folder.  Remember that it disconnects so that every time you dial into Tarleton, you also have to enter your password to reconnect to your drive.  It should come up automatically when you double click on the H: drive.  You may also get a Logon error when you reboot the computer.  If you do get this make sure that the check box is NOT checked and press the OK button.
