Policy: Use of Human Subjects
Regardless of whether it is supported by university or outside funding, all research using human subjects-- even paper-pencil questionnaires and surveys -- must be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Tarleton State University could suffer serious sanctions, like withdrawal of all federal funding, if the appropriate committee approval is not obtained before research is begun.
Tarleton's IRB is registered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is chaired by Dr. Bert Little. Completed applications for IRB approval are submitted through the Office of Sponsored Projects.
