Scavenger Hunt

Students explore all areas of Thurber life through a short video and a hands-on scavenger hunt through the museum that keeps students actively involved. They learn about what life was like for the immigrant coal miners and brick workers of a company-owned town.

Flags of Thurber

Students examine the different nationalities that lived in Thurber through the flags and customs of their countries. They also learn about the importance of flags as symbols of national pride and about proper etiquette for our own flag. This program requires a previsit video.

Immigrant Life in Thurber

Through an actress portraying a young Polish woman, students learn about the many different immigrants who peopled Thurber. Her universal experiences help students understand the decisions, hopes, fears, joys, and disappointments of all immigrants to America. This program includes a costumed interpreter, interactive stories, and hands-on activities that enhance the experience.
